The code of conduct is to be followed at both Exeter Eagles BMX track or when visiting any other BMX track by all club members, their families, guardians, carers as well as visitors to Exeter Eagles BMX Club.
Persons should:
• Conduct themselves to reflect the ideals of good sportsmanship.
• Accept others peoples views and opinions without contempt.
• Never bring themselves, the club, or the sport of BMX racing into disrepute by their actions at any time.
• Not undermine the club, volunteers or committee members on any social media.
• Use correct language at all times.
• Support all measures to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
• Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every person regardless of their sex, age, ability, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.
• Wear suitable protective kit and clothing. Arms and legs are to be covered; gloves and full face helmet are to be worn whilst riding the track.
• Control their temper -verbal and or mental abuse towards anyone will not be tolerated
• Work equally as hard for themselves and their club.
• On Race days arrive in good time to prepare properly; shake hands at the end of a race.
• Ride within the rules and respect officials and all their decisions, without argument.
• Recognise good performance and conduct, not just results.
• Be a good sport by applauding all good performances, whether they are made by members of the club or not.
• Show appreciation and respect for coaches and officials.• Not be giving or receiving private coaching on an open track night.
• Respect the track and surrounding area – including the car park and Exeter Eagles BMX track neighbouring companies and clubs.
• Not smoke inside the Exeter Eagles Bmx Club grounds.
• Not use vapers in cabin or on wooded covered area outside cabin.• Not drink alcohol inside the Exeter Eagles Bmx Club grounds.• Not be in possession of or use any illegal drugs inside the Exeter Eagles Bmx Club grounds.
• Not bring dogs into cabin or on wooded covered area. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the grounds, however the owner takes full responsibility for the dog at all times.
• Leave emergency contact details with someone in attendance at the club and with the volunteer opening if they are riding on their own.
Children under the age of 15 attending training, races or any club activity must be accompanied by the parent or guardian who shall be entirely responsible for them. For young people aged 15-17 a parent or guardian is to be entirely responsible for their attendance at all club activities.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is popular and proving increasingly beneficial to members in communicating and sharing club and coaching information. This is a guide to members, coaches and administrators in utilising social media in a safe, sensible and enabling manner with the overall principle of promoting mutually beneficial cycling activities and to avoid safeguarding issues. It is also a means of preventing any inappropriate relationships or bullying through effective management and the implementation of measures to safeguard users.
To support this objective the following rules will be used:
• All social media platforms that use the name of Exeter Eagles BMX Club , or its derivatives, will promote the ethos and rules of the Club and especially its ethos that all members are all welcome to join in any activities promoted in the name of the Club. Like the aim of the Club, all platforms must promote an encouraging and enabling cycling experience for all members and potential members.
• Several social media platforms are run under the name of Exeter Eagles and they are open to all Club members to join. No sub-groups, not open to all members, may be considered as Club sites. Some members will have closed groups in which they organise events or rides. These will be treated as private groups and not Club sites.
• No private discussions should take place, particularly between an adult at the club and a young rider. No personal, private or inappropriate entries should be posted. Photos and videos may be appropriate, but, in the case of younger or more vulnerable members, only where parents and carers have specifically consented. No post should cause offence.
• Coaches and others in a position of trust/responsibility should not accept friend requests from or communicate with the riders they coach on their personal profiles.
• Any ride or activity that may not be suitable for all members must state the reasons why this is the case
• No oppressive or bullying behaviour that may be seen as discouraging, demoralising or offensive is allowed, always remembering that omission can be seen as such behaviour.
• The administrator of the group site must be aware of these provisions and vigilant in their application.
• Contravention of these rules may contravene Club codes of conduct and be subject to disciplinary action.
• All entries should support the equality and welfare rules within the Club constitution and those of British Cycling.
